Magistrates and judges have a variety of sentencing options available to them.
They can sentence people convicted of a crime to a Community Order, Suspended Sentence Order, or a custodial sentence.
Courts can also sentence people to complete multiple requirements. These include:
- Rehabilitation Activity Requirement
- courses aimed at addressing issues linked to why people commit crime
- the Intensive Community Order, which is for 18 to 24-year-old men in Greater Manchester
- curfews
- Community Payback
- Senior Attendance Centres
